New Song - Retro Games Galore

I finished this one a few days ago, but I’ve been too lazy to get around to mastering and uploading.
Well, here it is. “Retro Games Galore.”

You can take a listen here. You can also download it from MediaFire here.

Celebrity Death Week ‘09

This week, we have faced the death of four celebrities.
That Ed guy, that chick from Charlie’s Angels, Michael Jackson, and, most recently, and most shocking and terrible to myself, Billy Mays.

Lots of people will miss the first three, I’m sure, but I’m really just torn up on Billy.
He was my favourite pitch man for infomercials, and it really begs the question; who’s going to take over that market?

Sure, we’ve got the ShamWow guy, but he’s always marketed products that were ripoffs of Billy’s, such as the Zorbeez (original ShamWow). Don’t get me wrong, I love Vince (ShamWow guy), but I don’t think he has what it takes to be the face of the industry that Billy was.

And yes, I’m being serious.
Billy Mays was the man, and I will miss him very much.

Not to belittle the deaths of the other celebrities, they just weren’t as important to me as Billy Mays.

New Song - Piracy FTW!

If you couldn’t guess by the name, Bit Buccaneer, I am a pirate.
My newest song, Piracy FTW, shows that… Pretty well.

If you want ‘em, you can download the lyrics here.

New Song - Glowing Screens

It’s been a while since I’ve recorded a new song as Bit Buccaneer, Nerdcore extraordinaire.
This time I’ve got Sleaze from Ketchup Plz backing me up with some badass beats.

You can download it here or here, and the lyrics can be found here.

Let me know what you think!
I think this is my first time putting one of my songs on the blog, because I haven’t made one in a while.
Still debating on whether I want to continue with the Myspace page.

Still Using McAfee? Stop.

If you’re on Windows, please, do me and all other geeks a favour - stop using McAfee!
I’ve had a personal vendetta for McAfee ever since I realized how much it sucked first-hand. And yet, almost every time someone gives me a distress call (computer problems? Super Geek to the rescue!), I almost always see it installed on their system. Either that or Norton, which is another big mistake.
My diagnostic and repair process normally goes like this - Uninstall whatever antivirus they have, install a decent one, give further instruction as needed. Hell, if they had decent software on their PCs to begin with, this wouldn’t have been an issue.

One said antivirus application that I normally recommend, among others, is the Vipre Antivirus Software. Seeing as I’m on a Mac and rarely use my PC, I’ve never had the need to use it on one of my machines, but after some friends recommended it and I checked out the CNet review, I decided it was worth a shot, and started telling some troubled users about it.
So far it’s had a pretty nice success rate, and I can definitely continue recommending it.

So again, if you’ve got McAfee, get rid of it. Try out some alternatives, for the love of god.

Hard times call for tough measures

I just formatted my Mac’s HDD and reinstalled Mac OS X. Reason being, if I didn’t, I couldn’t have installed Windows 7 through Boot Camp, which I really wanted to do.

Now I’ve gotta go through and do all sorts of annoying-ass updates, but I really hope it’s worth it. Besides, a format every now and then can really help speed up your computer. Plus, it’s just nice to start fresh, with backups.

I’m writing for RazorianFly.com

I am now a writer over at RazorianFly, writing about Mac OS X, which seems to be new to the website that normally reviews iPhone applications and games.

I’ve interacted with a few of the staff members over there, and I’m very happy to be working with them at the website.

I just published my first post a bit ago, The Most Popular Twitter Clients for Mac. Check it out and share your views.

Random Geek Weekly - New podcast - Thoughts?

I decided to give a podcast a shot, and I’m calling it Random Geek Weekly, seeing as it will be a weekly podcast, and it will be based on random geeky subjects.

Listen to the first episode here, and tell me what you think.
Should I continue with it, or what?

Thanks

Why we love Twitter

A while back, I made a post entitled “Why I love Twitter.” In the post, I listed off many reasons why Twitter is the absolutely perfect social networking platform for me. Well, I decided to get some input from my followers on Twitter as to why they love it.

I got just a few responses, but all of them made nice points.

@imfrog2002 said “I can keep up with friends without having to have a full blog, or call/write them or even pay attention to them, really. :P

@PlayBoyMan said “it is super easy to use and manage. Plus, I don’t even need 2 worry if I’m saying too much. Epic WIN

@jtjdt said “Speed of information and apps that interface with the service.

@RazorianFly said “I love @Twitter because it seems to relay breaking news quicker then any other online-based mainstream system physically can. :)

Altogether, some really nice responses. I particularly like the last two, mentioning how quickly things get posted. Twitter has essentially replaced news websites for me, because… Well, it’s where I get all my news. Things spread quick through Tweets and Retweets.

Time to finally put down the scrubs

Scrubs, one of my uncontested favourite shows of all time, has just come to an end.
They have announced “final seasons” before, but that was due to things other than them actually wanting to end it. A lot of the time, they just thought it wouldn’t last.

Well, this time, they actually set up a finale. A very nice way to close the story.
As insanely upset as I am about the show coming to an end, I can’t say that I’m unsatisfied. I couldn’t think of a better way to end it.

They’ve ended the show in the best possible way, leaving some mystery, as well as answering some big questions.

Dr. Cox admitted his man-love for JD, while JD stood behind him and listened to every word he said. Cox complimented John on being both a good doctor, and a good person. He even went as far as to call him a friend.
The thing that was most awesome about it was that he didn’t try and find a way out of it or deny it afterward.

The episode ended with a roll of lots of funny clips from while they’re filming, accompanied by the full theme song, a-capella.

There were some moments in this episode that actually almost brought tears streaming down my face. I’ve grown incredibly attached to the characters, more than in any other show, which shows how remarkable the writing as well as the acting is.

The one question that’s on everybody’s mind was kinda answered.
JD asked Janitor was his real name was. He said “Glenn Matthews,” and looked completely serious.
Unfortunately, just seconds after, someone walked by and said “Hey, Tony.”

I hope his real name really is Glenn Matthews. I’ve always been like, “I want to know his name, but I probably won’t like it.” Well, I actually really like Glenn Matthews, and I think it fits him.

I’m just mumbling on now… Fact of the matter is, Scrubs has been an amazing show. I’ve seen every single episode numerous times, and it will, without a doubt, actually leave quite a bit void in my life not having it to look forward to. I’ll always have reruns, but I’ll never know what happens next.

No matter, they ended the show in a very acceptable and respectable way, showcasing some visions by JD that are realistic and actually pave a great way for the show to go. But, they’re still just his imagination, so we don’t know how true they are.
You’re left hanging, in a very nice way that doesn’t make you angry… You just accept it. The story is over, there’s nothing more to tell. I honestly think that if they kept going with it, it would get pretty stale, because… Well, it’s over. This is a great place to end.

And it’s also a great place to end this post… I’m getting too sentimental. This show means more to me than most people mean to me.
Scrubs - You had a great run. I’m really looking forward to what the cast and crew pull off in the future.
Oh, and please, for the love of god — No spinoffs.
